Donate > Top Ten Ways to Support Community Cancer Network!
- Write a check. Hey, it’s the truth: we all have bills to pay, and despite CCN being one of the most efficient cancer charities, it all takes money to run. Make your pledge and pay now, monthly, quarterly or at year end. Simple, effective, and oh-so appreciated!
- Be a CCN Lifeguard: Put away the swimsuit - a CCN Lifeguard makes an annual gift of $1000 or more to help pay for operations. This allows us to place other donations directly to patient services, so the maximum amount of all donations goes to the patient, not the overhead.
- Volunteer! Time and Talent, not just Treasure, makes the CCN world go around! We always have openings for transportation, administrative duties, agency shoppers, and much more.
- Include us in your employer matching program! Double-or triple- your fun by including us in your employer matching funds by checking the box on your company form as you give to us- they get an additional tax break, it costs you nothing, and it’s a huge plus for the patient.
- Give the gift of stock. Markets go up and down, but if you have shares of stock or bonds that you can give us, we are set up to receive them by Fedex or direct transfer from your broker. Please call for particulars.
- Put us in the Will. Okay, cut out the organ music and red velvet drapes- it’s about what you do while you’re alive that matters. If you have assets that you would like to transfer to help us help cancer patients, this is an easy and effective way to do it. Consult your estate planner.
- Direct transfers from your IRA: Ah, let us recite from the tax code. The IRS is currently allowing people 70.5 years of age and taking minimum distributions from their IRA accounts to direct their minimum distribution to 501c(3) charities like CCN, and avoid paying taxes on the distribution. If you don’t need the money, why pay taxes on it? Consult your tax wizard for specific information.
- Throw a Party! Host a private party at your home or office and give the proceeds to CCN! Hog roasts, soup lunches, dinner parties, neighborhood basketball, pancake breakfasts, they all work to the good while you have a good time. Contact us for your authorization letter to collect funds on our behalf BEFORE the party. Oh, and invite us too. We don’t eat much.
- Life Insurance: Designate us as a beneficiary on that old policy you have hanging around, or buy a new one and possibly take a tax break for the full amount. Again, consult your tax wizard.
- Watch for CCN events during the year! Come out and show your support for CCN by volunteering or participating in our special events during the year. Art openings, rose sales, National Survivor’s Day, and more. Check the web page for upcoming events!
